Compassion, listening, and presence are three hallmarks of a Caring Connection relationship. Trained adult volunteers are matched with an elder in the community to provide friendship and support through regular one-to-one visits (generally two to four times a month for about an hour). A Caring Connection can be a special gift during times of transition, loss or social isolation. Most Caring Connection relationships last from several months to years. The care receiver and volunteer determine how they will spend their visit time. Often the relationship becomes a mutual gift.
